Obituary of Anne Muriel Powell

POWELL, Anne Muriel, died peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS., on August 18, 2022. Born in Newcastle, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Crocker. Anne grew up in Rothesay, New Brunswick and attended Netherwood School. She graduated from nursing school in Boston as a paediatric nurse. She came back to Saint John, New Brunswick and worked at the TB Hospital and then joined Red Cross Blood Services. In 1953 Anne married Lawrence E. Powell in Rothesay, New Brunswick. They lived in Halifax where they raised their family. She was a life-time member and volunteer at St. Augustine’s Church. In recent years, Anne lived in Victoria Hall at Caritas Residence where she was very happy. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence (Powell) on January 9, 2005. She is survived by sons, John (Susan), Richard (Donna), Andrew (Heather) all from Halifax; daughter, Jennifer (Daniel) Graham, of Edmonton; eight grandchildren, Allison, Michelle, Katy, Thomas, Jayson and Ben Powell and Colin and Duncan Graham; six great grandchildren, Emma, Layla, Amira, Marnie, David, and Andre. She is also survived by brother John (Elaine) Crocker and sister Marion Crocker, all of Alberta A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 11:00am at St. James Anglican Church, 2668 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
