Obituary of Theresa Margaret Yoshinari

Theresa Margaret Yoshinari (née O'Handley), 92, of Halifax, NS, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Northwood Centre, Room 414. Born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Hugh and Muriel O’Handley. Theresa graduated as a Registered Nurse with top marks from St. Martha's Hospital School of Nursing in Antigonish in 1956. Over the years, she worked at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and Catholic hospitals in New York and Miami. She was a long-time and well-liked resident of Northwood, where she lived quite contentedly for more than thirty years. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Hiloko Yoshinari; brothers, Alexander (Sandy) O’Handley, Joseph Parker and Clifford O’Handley; sister, Georgina Geldert; and several nephews and nieces. Theresa is predeceased by her father, Hugh Angus O’Handley, died in 1975, and her mother, Muriel Ruth O’Handley (née Parker), died in 1989. A graveside service with Father Paul officiating will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 11:00am, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 593 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, NS. Flowers from family and friends are accepted. Special thank you to Father Paul, Reverend Renee, John O'Keefe, Dr. Janice MacGregor and all nursing and support staff and volunteers of 4 Centre.
