Susan Marie Richard, 55, of Enfield, NS passed away on Monday, August 1st at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born on January 19th, 1967, in Woodstock, NB, she was the daughter of Glenna and Reg Richard. She moved to Keswick Ridge with her family in 1977. She later moved to Fredericton, NB in 1989 and settled in Enfield, NS in 2005 with her life partner, Charlie Lewis. Since she was a child, Susan had a love of all animals but especially dogs. She began her dog grooming business in 1995 and later launched several grooming and boarding facilities. She loved to be surrounded by dogs at home and had many special pets during her life. She always found a way to tame animals of all shapes and sizes and gave them a calming presence so they could be groomed. If she saw a stray dog, she would bring it home without hesitation and take care of it. Susan loved to work in her beautiful garden and to spend time with her beloved life partner Charlie at their camp and on their boat. Together Susan and Charlie had many friends and enjoyed visiting car shows and going to concerts. Susan is survived by her life partner, Charlie Lewis of Enfield; mother, Glenna Richard of Fredericton NB; son, Jesse Richard (Alyssa) of Halifax NS; daughter, Krista McLaughlin (Derek) of Surrey BC; brother, Donald Richard (Raymonde) of Fredericton NB; sister, Cynthia Hatcher (Matthew) of Keswick NB; stepdaughter, Nicky (Reza) of Toronto, stepson, Raymond Lewis of Edmonton AB; grandchildren, Rebecca, and Cole of Surrey BC; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Reginald Richard; her sister, Jeanne Richard; grandparents, Emma and Donald Holmes, and Alexandria and Alcide Richard; as well as her special dogs, Deogi, Luigi, Steve, Smiley, Max, and Keisha. By request there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please support a local animal rescue in Susan’s honour.
