Obituary of Nora Lawton

Nora Elizabeth (Johnson) Lawton Sydney Mines It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Nora Elizabeth Lawton on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at home. Born June 10, 1938, in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Boyd) Johnson. Nora is survived by her three sons, Alex (Tracy), Ben (Melissa) and Henry (Mary Ann); brother, John Charles ‘Chuckie’ (Jessie); her fur baby Molly. Nora leaves behind eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Nora was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Peter Lawton (Jan 1998) and her daughter Lola Lawton (Sept 2021); numerous brothers and sisters. We would like to thank Continuing Care, VON, and Palliative Care, for the compassion and care given to Nora over the past number of months; as well as her earth Angel Arlene, who was forever there when needed and did many things for Nora including taking care of Molly. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). As per Nora’s wishes there will no services.
