JOUDRIE, ANGUS GERALD – May 16, 2018. Age 87. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grampie, and friend. Predeceased by his father and mother Frank and Hazel Joudrie and brother Cecil. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Hilda (Spearns) and his caring children, Ron of Boston and Heather Singer (Barry) of Bedford. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lee (Melanie) and Holly (Justin) who he shared a special bond with. Originally from Sydney Cape Breton, he had a long and successful 30-year career as a salesman and branch manager with National/Eastern Drug Company. He once said “I was a salesman and a damn good one too!” Known as “Gus” by those who knew him he had a quick wit and unique sense of humor that will be immensely missed. An avid and impressive bowler in his prime Gus also enjoyed watching and talking about sports. Hockey and baseball were his favorites. He could often be found in the comfort of his favorite chair working on a crossword puzzle in between periods of hockey or enjoying a nice drive with Hilda by his side. His family was of utmost importance to him and he was fiercely loyal to them. He would never hesitate to lend a helping hand to someone in need. Gus was strong and never complained during his last few difficult weeks, in fact he was cracking his infamous jokes until the very end. He will be remembered as an incredible man that will be forever loved and missed. In keeping with his wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place under the care of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists. Family and friends are invited to Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax Wednesday, May 23 between 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
