Please share a memory of Rosalie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
81 of Lakeside, NS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the VG Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Marguerite (Hyland) O’Toole. Rosalie was a loving wife to Jerry, and she knew when she first met him that he was "the one". Together they built a life of 61 years. She was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and she will be remembered for her beautiful garden, baked goods, and endless love for her family. Her love didn't end with her own. Her heart extended to all the children of our community and was known for making special treats of candy apples and fudge on Halloween and watching these children grow and loving them into adulthood. Rosalie was involved in her community by advocating tirelessly by petitioning and attending city council meetings to secure Halifax City Water in the BLT community, and being a block parent for many years. Rosalie is survived by her husband, Jerome (Jerry), eight children: John (Jackie) (Jacklyn), Richard (Rick), Darlene (John) Bennett, Daniel (Danny) (Wanda), Douglas (Doug) (Chantal), Kelly (Brent) Little, Jerry (Jay) (Jennifer), and Angela (Ryan), as well as her 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Christopher. A celebration of life will be held on July 31, at 26 Myra Road, Lakeside, (Lakeside Fire Hall), from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Special thanks to the nurses on floor 3B of the VG, who were praised by Rosalie for their sweetness and exceptional care. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
