Richard (Ricky)(Pinhead) MacDonald, 63 Gardiner Mines, N.S. It is with great sadness that we the family of Ricky (Pinhead) MacDonald, 63 of Gardiner Mines, NS, announce his passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Ricky was the son of the late Kenneth Joseph and Mary Catherine (McNeil) MacDonald. Rick loved life to the fullest; he had a hearty laugh that brightened every room in which he entered. Rick was an Electrician in the Coal Mines for 21 years, and later worked in Fort McMurray, AB, before he retired. Rick was raised in the Sterling and was immensely proud of where he grew up; he would go to the beach to collect Copper and sell to earn his spending money, he used this money to engage in his greatest passion, which was Pool. Rick excelled at this game to where he was able to attend the Nationals. Shooting Pool is where he made many friends and continued with their friendships through out the years. A few of Rick’s other passions were, Bowling, Baseball, and watching the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, and Toronto Blue Jays. Later in life, Rick began playing Darts at the Community Hall next door, he even had a path cut through the bushes joining our place to it, so if he had a couple of drinks, he could stroll through it to get home. Rick’s greatest love was for his family and friends, with whom he loved spending heaps of time with. Rick is survived by his wife Pauline Patterson of 12 years; two sons: Cory (Shauna) Trapp, and Derek Trapp; two stepdaughters: Paula Patterson, and Danielle Patterson (Jason); a sister: Wendy Pollock (Jamie). A proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Haley, Cody, Colton, Hunter, Jacob, Austin, and Anton; as well as a great-grandchild, Ava. Along with his parents, Rick was predeceased by brothers, Robert K. MacDonald (Clarise), James Nelson MacDonald, and Wayne Morris MacDonald (Yvonne). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association. On behalf of Rick and his family we would like to thank each person for all the kindness and support that was offered to him when needed, particularly these last few months, we will be forever grateful.
