It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Aunt, Josephine Gail Murphy Nee Redden, on June 4, 2022 at the age of 83 in St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax.
Gail was born and raised in Halifax, a beautiful, kind, and gentle soul, she will be forever loved and remembered by her daughter Brenda, sons Daniel (Heather), John (Joyce), Blaine and grandchildren Craig (Courtney), Staci (Blake) and Nathan.
She was predeceased by her birthparents, Emma (LeVie) and Jacque LeClair and parents who raised her, Hilda (LeVie) and James (Jim) Redden. She was preceded in death by her former husband of 34-years, John Arthur Murphy, infant son, Matthew; sisters Mary "Dolly" MacIntyre, Stella "Freda" Young, Patricia "Patsy" O’Connell, and Ellen "Donna" Busch; brothers, Joseph "Joe" Harris, Robert "Bobby" Stone, John "Jack" Redden and Paul Redden.
Mom cherished her fond memories of family, friends, nieces, and nephews; each sharing a special place in her heart. Remembered affectionately her bond with Thomas "Tom" Jollymore, the O’Connell family of Michigan; Busch family of Ontario; the Young family of Cape Breton, as well as the MacIntyre and Murphy families of PEI. She found great joy in the simple things in life and was thankful for all her blessings.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Michael’s Church, 6 St. Michael’s Avenue, Halifax on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Jose Thomas officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation https://www.heartandstroke.ca/ or to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation & Burial Specialists in Halifax.
