My deepest sympathy on hearing of Jack's passing. I worked with Jack for most of the 90's when I first started with the Provincial Government. Jack and I and the other Jack and his mechanical counterpart spent many a day on the road inspecting new schools, new or renovated Government buildings and new hospitals. The longest time we were away was for the Cape Breton Hospital in Sydney which took close to 4 months where we would go down on Monday and come back on Friday. While I was the electrical engineer, I learned a lot of the practical things and useful tips from Jack who was a perfectionist with a very high work ethic. Jack could walk into an electrical room and within a minute make the call as to whether this was going to be a good inspection or a bad one. I still remember when he scared me by taking his thumb and first or second forefinger and touched the panel board bare bus to see if it was live. First finger and thumb for 120 V and second finger and thumb for 240 V .Of course his fingers were twice the size of mine and were tough as leather but still! Jack was old school in many ways such as that .
I enjoyed working with Jack all those years and used a lot of what I learned from him in my next job in the Government. Thanks Jack.
David MacLeod, P.Eng.

It is with great sadness that I send this tribute to Jack. First of all I want to send deepest condolences to Colleen, Ian, Florence and her family for such a very sad loss. I knew Jack for many years and always enjoyed his wit, his piano talents and his great joy of life. When he was President (Mr Prez was my name I had for him) of Prospect Old timers Hockey I worked with Jack as secretary of the League. He was a great guy to get along with as he listened to all my advice (haha). We were very happy when Jack and Florence met and eventually married, he was a wonderful addition to Flomo's life and the Zinck family. As Florence is our loving niece I told Jack he had to call me Aunt Mary which he did.
There are so many memories I could share but too numerous to mention.
Rest in Peace dear Jack, you will always be remembered by us.
Love ( Aunt ) Mary and (Uncle) George xxxxoooo

I am so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I played hockey with and against Jack in the Old Timers League for many years. With jokes about putting a bungie cord on Jack to keep him between the posts. I remember as kids growing up in Bayside playing ball up at the Point when Jack, Sid Dow, Jim Edgar, and a few others would come up and play ball with us kids after supper. Jack was quite the character and he will be missed. My condolences to the Family. Cheers Bunk!

My deepest condolences to the family and friends. I first met Jack 20+ years ago when he was the inspector and I was one of the contractors. He was a man where a hand-shake was all that was needed.

I am sorry to hear of Jack's passing. He was a wonderful man.
A quick story that always reminds me of Jack's sense of humour. Jack let me into the Oldtimer's League when I was a bit younger than the required age. Sid Dow pestered him to let me in. A few years after I joined the league, Jack said to me, with that huge smile I will never forget: "Sid bugged me so much to let you into the league that I hated you before I even set eyes on you!" What a character!
I was almost always on Jack's team. I could never get a puck past him in warmups. Seriously.
My condolences to Jack's family and his many friends. Jack will be missed!

So sorry to hear of Jack's passing. We worked together with the provincial government several years ago. He was perfectionist which made him a pleasure to work with. The last time I saw Jack was at McDonald's in Clayton Park as he and Florence were leaving on a bus trip somewhere and they were very happy. Also interesting is that Florence's mother worked in my father's restaurant and she made the best pastry's. Small world we live in.

My dad worked with Jack for many years and although they saw differently on some things there was always a genuine admiration for Jack. As a child I remember he always had a smile and something funny to say. In my later years I was able to see Jack at the annual hockey picnics at Art's home. He would always make it a point to ask how my mom and dad were, remembering to make sure I told them he said hi. Now you can discuss whatever you want with dad walking away with that great smile of yours. Holly (Chandler) Oickle

So sorry to learn of Bunk's passing. He beat me again! Nicknames were common then, mine being "Buzz". Memories go back 80 years as our families enjoyed picnics together at Point Pleasant during 2nd World War. Jack encouraged me to swim after I was denied the use of our row boat until I learned. That, as well as many other memories of summer fun together at Bayside, will never be forgotten. He also was in my first bridal party in 1957. Happy memories will abide with us to the end.
God's blessing on all Jack's family.

I worked with Jack at the Provincial Government. Some of my fondest memories of my time with Jack was listening to him boast about his children and playing pranks on him. Jack was such a kind and carry person, he could not do enough for you. Through the years he was responsible for keeping the work environment a happy place to be and was so well respected by his peers.
Jack would often call me his IT support as he started using computers late in his career, that in itself is a whole other story.
Jack thanks for all the memories.

Florence, Ian and Colleen, I was very sorry to read of Jack’s passing today. A true gentleman and a man of many talents!
He was always so pleasant when he would be at the local community pharmacy and usually had kind words for everyone.
