Obituary of Catherine MacDonald

Catherine Elizabeth MacDonald Reserve Mines It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Catherine MacDonald on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Glace Bay Hospital, with her brother at her side. Born in Island View, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (MacKinnon) MacDonald. She was employed with Maritime Tel and Tel for many years in Halifax until her retirement. She was a member of the CWL and the Reserve Mines Pensioners Club. Catherine enjoyed creating crafts along with sewing, knitting, baking, and playing cards. Catherine is survived by her sisters, Mary (Luc) Belanger, Ottawa, Shirley (Ken) Stevens, Victoria, BC; brothers, Charles, and Joseph MacDonald, both of East Bay, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John (Cecilia) MacDonald. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Glace Bay Hospital and the EHS for your care and compassion given to Catherine. Donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to a Charity of choice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 3-7 p.m. at T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). A funeral mass will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating at St. Joseph’s Parish, Main St., Reserve Mines.Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Bay.
