Obituary of Anne (Mary) Emerise MacDonald

Anne Emerise (Mary) MacDonald, 88 Westmount It is with deep sadness that we the family of Ann Emerise (Mary) MacDonald, 88 of Westmount announce her passing on May 17, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, N.S. Born in Grand Etang, N.S., Anne was the daughter of the late Marcelin and Luce (Doucet) Cormier. Mom left Grand Etang at an early age and worked at the City Hospital as a cook. It was here that she met our father, fell in love, and spent 57 years together until his passing. She continued her career as a cook, retiring from Keddy’s Motor inn at 65. Mom was a kind, caring, loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose family meant the world to her, she always put our needs before her own. She loved playing Solitaire and watching Days of Our Lives, as well as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Anne is survived by 2 sons: Bernie (Leona) and Jamie (Lisa); 2 daughters: Cecelia and Jessie (Franklyn), as well as daughter-in-law Irma MacDonald. Mom is also survived by a brother Eugene and 3 sisters: Juliette Poirier, Evangline Aucoin, and Margaret Chiasson, as well as several grandchildren: Terry, Michelle, Amey, Sherri, Natasha, Jeremy, and John, also surviving Anne are many great-grandchildren: Jordan, Malaya, Jase, Jaxon, and Peyton, and two on the way. Anne was predeceased by her husband John B, sons Neil and Jerry, sisters, Marie Joanne Cormier, Ethel Bourgeois, Ella Cormier, and Maria Cormier, son-in-law, Ivan Butcher, as well as daughter-in-law, Sharon MacDonald. A special thank you to the staff on 4A and the Palliative Care Team at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Funeral service and Interment will be held at a later date.
