Obituary of Dennis Cordell Derbyshire

Dennis Cordell Derbyshire June 13, 1979-May 18, 2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis on May 18, 2022. Dennis was a loving father, brother, uncle, son, and friend, who was admired by all who knew him, his charm, humour, and kindness were like none I have ever known. Dennis will be sadly missed by his mother Geraldine Derbyshire (John Burroughs); a sister Lesley Ann Murray; his beautiful daughter Jaylene, who was his whole world; his very special niece and nephew whom he loved dearly, Matthias and Annissa Murray; Dennis is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he thought of as brothers and sisters: Tim and Sandra Derbyshire, Margie MacDougall, and Darlene and Jack Gibson. Dennis was predeceased by his maternal grandparents George and Katherine (Kitty) Derbyshire, with whom he was raised by. In Dennis’ younger years he was an avid dart player and bowler, he most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his lifelong friends which we are very grateful for: Jennifer Corbett, Todd Dixon, and Johnnie Wolodka who all loved him like a brother. We would like to thank Dr. Gordon Spencer, as well as the many doctors and nurses who cared for Dennis over the years, VON, and Homecare workers for helping to care for Dennis with compassion and understanding. As per Dennis’ wishes, Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. (902) 849-4199.
