Obituary of Jean Grant

Margaret Jean Grant Glace Bay It is with heartfelt sadness that we the family announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on May 23, 2022, at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay on August 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche (Curtis) Jillett. Mom was a member of Warden United Church. She enjoyed playing darts at the Hub Club. Jean is survived by her sons, Bobby (Donna), Donnie (Colleen), Gordie (Georgina) and Todd; daughters, Shirley McNeil, Debi Billard, and Louann (Wally Buckler); grandchildren, Robert, Ryan (Lindsay), Greg (Jill), Bradley, Jonathan (Kelsey), Vanessa (Terry), Nicole (Jeff), Ashley (Andrew), Alicia (Jeff) and Jordan; 10 great grandchildren, and three great great granddaughters. She is also survived by sister, Mae Mollon; brother, Butch Jillett (Beatrice), as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert; grandson, David; sons-in-law, Herbie McNeil, and Sandy Billard; sisters, Florence (Ted) Campbell and Shirley (Tom) Driscoll); brothers, Jim (Rita), Bob (Daisy); sister-in-law, Davealean Jillett; brother-in-law, Les Mollon. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 12-1:30p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1:30 pm with Martha MacDonald officiating at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, (902) 849-4199. Reception to follow. Burial to take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to the Staff at Victoria Haven Nursing Home where she resided for five years, to the staff of 3 South at the Glace Bay Hospital and to Dr. MacLaughlin.
