Obituary of Mary Richardson

Mary Frances (Gallant) Richardson August 24, 1938 – May 20, 2022 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Frances (Gallant) Richardson of New Waterford. Mom came full circle in her life. Born to the late Luke and Francis Gallant of Gardiner Mines, residing through the years in Ontario and New Brunswick and returning to Cape Breton to live out her last several years in a senior’s residence in New Waterford. Mom was predeceased by her bothers Luke and Gerard; sister, Diane Gallant, Gardiner Mines. Mary is survived by her sisters, Catherine McNeil (the late John Joe), Gardiner Mines, Effie McNeil (Albert), New Waterford and a brother, Freddie Gallant (Mary), Glace Bay. She was blessed with six children, Thomas Martell (Debbie), NS, Catherine Richard Armand) NB, Alma Meek (Darrell) NB, Kevin Martell (Brenda), NB, Jason Richardson (Sarah) NB, and she was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael Martell, ON. Mom also had a hand in raising Dawn, Dana, Marcia and the late Robbie Richardson (children of her late husband Robert Richardson). Up until her passing mom led a very full and active life. She went from being a mother at 18 to a great grandmother at the age of 81. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday May 27, 2022 with Fr. Duaine Devereaux at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). Following the service, family and friends are welcome to gather for luncheon at the Seniors and Pensioners Club , Plummer Ave, New Waterford. Mom’s final resting place will be in the family plot in Alliston, Ontario. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
