It is with great sadness that we, the family of Brian Penney announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Brian passed peacefully at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Sunday March 20, 2022. Brian was the son to the late Sam and Edith (Lambert) Penney.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joan (Griffin), children Redmond (Johna), Tammy (Tony) Wells, Trisha (Eric) and his four grandchildren that he adored Sarah, Hunter, Holly, and Brody.
He is also survived by his sisters Gladys (John Allen) Johnston, Cass (Keith) Roach, Jocelyn Royer (Len Hatfield), Ruth Barton, brother Kevin Penney and many nieces and nephews.
Brian worked for 50 years at McPhee’s Plumbing and Heating. He was a dedicated employee and enjoyed working alongside his coworkers.
Dad enjoyed fishing and hunting especially with his son-in-law Tony and his long-time friend, the late Steve Snook and he loved their many trips to the country. He also kept busy woodworking and creating special projects for his family. Dad was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He was a great cook and baker, and he prepared many meals, desserts, and his home-made bread for all his family over the years. He liked visiting the Casino and spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “poppy.”
