I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Preston's passing. I worked with Preston at Lee Valley Tools. We shared many laughs and a few tears too. Preston had a wonderful way about him- a true teacher, wise and offering guidance.
I will remember him fondly, when I cook up "watery mince" or have a "ping dinner".
I will cherish the stories he told me about his time spent working in Iceland and landing on the newly formed volcanic island, even before National Geographic arrived!
I'm sending big hugs to the family. May you find comfort in the memories you have.

Joan, Bruce, Julie and Heather,
My deepest sympathy on the passing of Preston / your Dad. I have many fond memories of your Dad from years ago. From the many many hours at the old house to the days on the boat - all great memories.
In recent years and still today, there is never a stop in Bedford that I don’t think “I wonder if I will bump into Preston and Joan”. And the times it did happen - be it at the gas station or outside a store, it always meant a few minutes catching up on everyone, a few old memories and at least one good laugh.
Thinking of you all,
Alan Wilson

It was with great sadness that I read of Preston's passing. He was one of those special individuals and we welcomed him with open arms when he came to the "West". During his time there he was a very much valued member of the Social Studies Department as well as the staff, and he will be missed by all of us who knew him.
Deepest condolences,
David & Shirley Williamson

Joan, Julie, Bruce and Heather we were so sorry to hear about Preston's passing. As kids we have great memories of living on Polara Drive hanging out in the Thompson's backyard, building a fort in the woods and as a family we have been lucky enough to have enjoyed some special time with your family sailing on your vessels many years ago now.
We are all thinking of you guys and surrounding you with warm loving thoughts during this difficult time.
Love from the Burke's (Ozzie, Colleen, Shawna and Stacey)

It was with great sadness and shock that we learned of the death of our good friend Preston. We have shared many hours with the Thompson family when we each had small children and extended family for each were hours and days away. Preston was a loyal, caring and funny man and we will surely miss him. Preston and Ron shared the same love of woodworking and tinkering which kept them in touch over the years. Our deepest sympathy to Joan, Julie, Bruce, Heather and their families. He will be greatly missed but remembered forever.
