Mom passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary QEII site surrounded by her family on March 8, 2022, at the age of 77. Mom was born in Halifax and was the daughter of the late, Gerald and Margaret (Thornton) Connolly. In her younger years she worked at Sears, Mutual Life Insurance Company and WeeCare. Mom was an active bowler at the Bayers Road Bowling Alley. Mom was known for her love of cooking and baking and loved to entertain friends and family. She enjoyed picnics, reading, camping, knitting, and sewing. She loved being a Nannie most of all and was very proud of her 3 grandchildren, Owen and Connor, Cole Harbour, and Olivia, Toronto. Besides her grandchildren, Karen is survived by her former husband, Roger, Dartmouth; her son, Peter, Toronto; daughter, Lynne (Ian) Thomas, Cole Harbour; her brothers, Jerry (Pat), Dartmouth, Jake (Carolyn), Halifax; and many nieces and nephews. Mom had a love for all animals but especially loved cats. She will be missed by her cat Toby. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Halifax Infirmary floor 8.2 for taking amazing care of Mom. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation & Burial Specialists, Halifax. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 10 am at Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 6903 Mumford Road, with Father Irek Bem officiating. There will be a reception following the funeral. Private family burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s memory may be made to your local SPCA.
