Obituary of Marilyn Jones

Marilyn Jones Glace Bay It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Marilyn Jones of Cadegan Drive, Glace Bay. Marilyn passed away Tuesday February 15, 2022, at the Halifax Infirmary as the result of a pedestrian - motor vehicle accident. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Winnifred “Winnie” Blackman and Paul Hamilton. Mom retired after a lengthy career with Citizenship and Immigration Canada. She had a talent for decorating and a flare for style, she was incredibly kind and caring, and would never see anyone go without; mom appreciated spending time with her family and many friends. She loved to bake, often sending cakes and sweets to friends, neighbours, and St. Mary’s Church. Marilyn also enjoyed gardening and took immense pride in preparing her flowerpots for summer; she was an avid walker and loved to work out at the local gym. Marilyn is survived by son David at home, daughter Marilyn (Ed) McNeil, as well as two cherished granddaughters Meaghan and Kaitlin whom she loved spending time with and spoiling. Marilyn is also survived by brother Glen (Joan) Hamilton of Enterprise Ontario and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by husband Leonard and brothers John and Paul Hamilton. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. and service will take place on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Revd. Myrna MacMullin officiating at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St. Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. Burial at a later date. Donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
