Paula (Fukala) McInnis, 78 Reserve Mines It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Paula (Fukala) McInnis, on February 3, 2022, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 2,1943 in Glace Bay, Paula was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Gilday) Fukala. Ma had various interests including bingo, baking, sewing, bowling, travelling, knitting, and reading. The greatest part of Ma’s working life was at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Glace Bay General Hospital; she was also employed at the Coast Guard College and UCCB. Paula is survived by her daughters: Danette (Robert) Colbourne of Sydney; Coleen (Brad) Oliver of Reserve Mines; Elaine McInnis of Reserve Mines; and son Ronnie (Lyn Theriault) McInnis of Georges River; grandchildren: Jared, Sean, Matthew, Brian, Steven, Paige, Marli, Kelli; and great grandchild Jayda. Surviving Paula is her sister Corrine (Ken) McDonald of Cambridge and brother John (Patti) Fukala of Howie Center. Paula was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Danny McInnis, grandson Mitchel Cameron, sisters Nina Winstanley and Joanne Woodruff. The family would like to thank all hospital staff who cared for our mother in the ER, 4D, ICU, and Palliative Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital; thank you to Dr. Ley, Lynn, and Anne; these professionals have shown immense compassion, care, and kindness, and we cannot thank them enough. As per our mother’s wishes, a private family service will take place. Service arrangements for the late Paula McInnis are entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J.
