Obituary of Irene Bridget Roach

Irene Bridget Roach,89 Reserve Mines We the family of Irene Bridget Roach Reserve Mines, are deeply saddened to announce her passing at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 31, 2022, at the tender age of 89. Born in Glace Bay, N.S., Irene was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Bridget Gallant. Irene worked as a care worker at the Seaview Manor until her retirement. She was an avid walker and appreciated any activity that was held outdoors. Irene’s greatest pleasure was gardening; she was happiest when playing in the dirt, pruning trees and planting flowers. She was often seen driving the tractor and mowing her lawn well into her 80’s. Irene is survived by her three sons: Omar (Debbie), Curtis (Anne), and Terry (Rhonda); sister: Marie (Michael) MacKenzie; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Darrel), Kyle, Adam, William, Adison, and Ashton; one great-grandchild: Sophia. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband, Leo; sisters: Megie (Camille) Botte, Evelyn (Alex) MacAdam, Mary Anita (Fred) MacNeil, Nadie (Willie) Cooke, Shirley Gallant; brothers: Thoryl (Laura) Gallant and Eldie Gallant. As per Irene’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Services have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. A modest family service has taken place and Interment will occur in the spring at St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Palliative Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
