Tammy Harrie

Obituary of Tammy Louise Harrie

Please share a memory of Tammy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with very heavy hearts we announce Tammy has earned her angel wings and passed on January 26th at the QE2 after a 2+ years crusade with cancer. She fought cancer head on like a true warrior and told her cancer doctor, "I am not your typical cancer patient." and he agreed she was not. She soldiered on, even doing her own research, joining support groups and always seeking new treatments and trials. Tammy fought hard and loved hard. She was surrounded by the love of Brody, Tracy, and Darla when she passed. Tammy's entire life revolved around her son Brody. She always said, "he is my world and the love of my life." This is so true. She was immensely proud of her "little man." She raised an intelligent, funny, and very loving young man and she along with her family are very proud of him. She and Brody were always off on adventures with her friends Darla Timmons (aka "Bestie"), Holly Creelman and her sister's Sheila and Tracy. Holly attended most of Tammy's treatments with her and provided care for Brody as well. Darla and Tammy were besties for over 30 years. The emotional and physical support Darla and Holly gave Tammy and Brody was inspiring and we are so grateful they were able to be there for her and Brody. Tammy loved taking Brody, friends and family and going off on road trips, visiting many parks, exploring beaches, taking Brody and friends swimming, and spending a lot of time fishing or going for coffee with her friend Craig. She loved campfires and stargazing. She loved any time she could spend with birth sister Sheila (with whom she shares a special bond) and their birth father Kenny or visiting sister Tracy at the campground and getting a chance to go boating. She always looked up to older sister Tracy for advice, guidance and taking care of things when needed. Most of all she loved family and friends and she instilled these values in Brody. Her former partner of 14 years, Joey Jones, will always share the wonderful and loving connection through their son Brody. Brody, Tracy, and Sheila are so very thankful to the many family and friends (old and new) who supported Tammy by visiting, talking, messaging, running errands and helping with Brody. Tammy expressed to Tracy every day how grateful she was for all of you. Special thanks go to her cancer doctor, Dr. Colwell, the doctors, and nurses on 8th floor of Infirmary and the wonderful care of the nurses at the Palliative Care Unit (especially Thea and Browyn). Tammy is survived by her adoring son Brody and loving sisters Sheila Harrie (Mark) and Tracy Brophy (Kevin R.Wagner), nieces Daytona, Jaylynn, Brooke and Robyn and nephew Andrew as well as her adoptive grandmother Rita Richards (97). There is also a very large and loving family of cousins, aunts, and uncles from Terence Bay. Special love from Tammy is sent to Uncle Jason Slaunwhite and Uncle Barry Slaunwhite for their support. She was predeceased by her adoptive parents Diane and Francis Brophy, her birth parents Una and Kenny Harrie, her brother Jason S. Harrie and grandparents Ella May Brophy*, Joesph Richards (Rita), Phyllis and Vernard Slaunwhite and Nora Harrie*. (*husbands previously deceased) A celebration of life will be scheduled in the spring with attendance based on Covid rules at the time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society, the Palliative Care Unit of the QE2 Hospital or "IN TRUST" for Brody to Tracy Brophy or Sheila Harrie.
