Obituary of Dr. John Abdul Satter Ramessar

John Abdul Sattar Ramessar, 69 years of age, of Halifax passed away on December 21st, 2021 at his home in Hammond Plans Nova Scotia. Born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, he was the son of Zulaikha Ghany Ramessar and John Ramessar (deceased). He worked as a Family Doctor in Trinidad, and a Radiologist in England and Canada. He was appointed the Chief of Radiology in Prince County Hospital in Prince Edward Island, and was a lecturer in Radiology in Yarmouth.
He was an active member of the Living Waters Community and St. Vincent de Paul. His hobbies included archery and target practice, photography, karate and woodworking. He received many achievements including Gold medals in Biology, Zoology, and National Scholarships in Trinidad and for the University of the West Indies.
Dr. John is Survived by his wife Elena Paponette Ramessar of 37 years, and his children: John Paul, David, Brian, Jonathan and Sarah and deceased Joanna. His sisters: Joan Davidson and Ann Wolton; and grandchildren: Dominic, Rose, Gabriel, Lily and Avery Ramessar.

There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held on the week of January 14th, 2021 at St. Benedict’s parish on 45 Radcliffe Dr, Halifax, N.S. Internment of ashes will be at a later date in Trinidad.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Foundation.
