Obituary of Gordon Walter Crouse

Please share a memory of Gordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 82, Halifax. When you read this, I will have slipped the lines and crossed the bar on yet another adventure, having departed on Thursday, December 2, 2021. Born in Lunenburg, NS 28 May, 1939; second son of the late Capt. Walter and Marian Crouse. Educated in Lunenburg Academy. Survived by wife, Susan; sons, Alan (Barbara) California; Graham (Irene and Grandson Nathan) Hammond Plains; sister, Heather (Henry) Marks and family, Lunenburg; stepdaughter, Karen (Omar, Granddaughters Bianca, and Lyla Corsetti) Halifax; stepson, Roy (Jenn and family Francis) Bedford; sister in-law, Marion Crouse, and family; Dartmouth; sister-in-law, Julie Crouse and family, Sudbury, Ont; many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by first wife, Joan (1997); brothers, Richard (2017) and Eric (2018). Life member Royal Canadian Legion BR 143 Halifax and life member Admiral Desmond Piers Naval Association; J.C.I Senator 9046. Officer with Royal Canadian Sea Cadets for over 35 years. First administrator of Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Gordon touched so many lives through his activities at Cadets, Harbour View, church and Legion and is loved and will be missed by so many friends far and wide; especially “Brother” Brian and family, Ipswich, UK; and his best fury friend Kallie. Although living in Halifax with Sue to be close to the grandchildren he loved so much he remained proud of his Lunenburg heritage and went back often for Legion breakfasts and Folk Harbour Festivals. Gordon was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, Halifax where he was active on the Property Committee; a great pot washer at church suppers; and enjoyed being part of the Community Garden Project, planting an enviable garden box each year. Gordon and Susan had a wonderful 21 years together, full of many fun family times and travels to Australia, California, Cuba, UK, and White Point. My life has been made all the better by sharing time with him. I shall miss his love and warm smile. The family would like to send a special thank you to VON services, Palliative Care Services, Dr. Krueger-Naug and nurse Monica for assisting us to take care of Gordon at home. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family flowers only. Donations to Admiral Desmond Piers Naval Association, 100 High Street, P.O. Box 121, Bridgewater, NS B4V 1 V9, local food banks or charity of choice would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held Thursday December 9, 2021 at 1 pm. at T.J.
