My deepest condolences to the family and friends of John. I live in the building where John resided and spoke with him from time to time. Though we were only knew each other through random encounters at the building's entrance, he always stopped to ask how I was doing. When I was struggling to find a job in the spring, he offered to put out feelers for me and gave me suggestions on where to look. He even told me he had my back when I was having troubles with an aggressive person. "If you ever need anything, you know where I live", he would always say to me. I never did take him up on his offer, but I truly appreciated his kindness and willingness to help. Though I didn't know him well, his passing still hurts. He was a great man.
