It is with great sadness we the family announce his passing on October 11, 2021 at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Phyllis Halloran (Larder) and James MacQueen. Until his retirement ‘Bernie’ was a Millwright (Local 1178). He was a member of the Reserve Mines Pensioners Club and loved horses.
Bernie is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Marie (Frison); stepchildren, Bill (Rose) and Yvonne; brother, Ernest (Anne) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather James Halloran; special foster father, Frank ‘Cottie’ Campbell; siblings, John, Ronald, Lloyd, Marguerite, Mary, Phyllis and Rita.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating, all taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NS Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of NS. Thank you to the staff at the CBRH, QE11 and EHS and especially the Dialysis Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Covid-19 Restrictions, Masks are mandatory and public are asked to provide proof of double vaccine before entering the building.
