On behalf of my family I wish to express appreciation to Rev. Elroy McKillop for his ministry on the O'Leary-West Cape pastoral charge.. When I became a candidate for ministry he was extremely supportive and when we reconnected in Halifax at Bethany following his retirement it was always a pleasure to engage in conversation with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this your time of loss and grief. God is with us we are not alone thanks be to God.
God Bless,
Rev. Blair and Ruth Lewis

Our sincere condolences to all the family. Elroy was a wonderful person, and in many ways an extension of the team at Bethany.. We are not long-time members. We appreciated very much his friendliness, and being invited to the Canada Day celebration he organized. He was a big part of establishing Bethany as 'home' for us. We will miss him. Kathy & Murray Brown.

I was so sorry to learn of Elroy's passing. He is my earliest memory of a pastor when I was a little girl and you all were living next door to us in the manse in O'Leary. In later years, I always enjoyed reconnecting with him around Halifax, usually at a United Church event. My parents were always happy to get an update report. His presence will be missed.

He was always a kind and caring colleague and I enjoyed conversations with him over the years. May he rest in peace - faithful servant of Christ-and may you be comforted by your memories of his life in family and ministry . God's blessings be with you.

The McKillop Family:
My deepest sympathy to you all on your loss.
Elroy and Margaret were friends of my parents (Babs & Lorne Finley) and part of a wonderfully active bunch from Bethany Church… whether it was going for lunch each week after Sunday service, taking in the latest production from the Bedford Players, Birthday parties or the annual Canada Day lunch… they were usually organized or co-organized by Elroy!
…After Margaret and my parents passed, I was lucky to get to know Elroy personally… as did some of my friends (collectively known as ‘the knitting club’). Last December , when Covid threatened to cancel our annual ‘Secret Santa’ get together, a pivot to the Zoom platform allowed us to include Elroy in the festivities and make him our first ‘honourary member’ of the Knitting Club!
In early Sept., I contacted Bev and Elroy to ask if a small contingent from the ‘Club’ would be able to come for a visit… their quick response back was ‘How about coming tonight’??? So off we went…strawberry milkshakes in hand… and spent our Friday evening together… Lots of laughter and a few tears…. And indelible memories of our friend, Elroy… May he Rest in Peace.

I remember Elroy from his time at Port Wallis United as one of the warmest and most caring individuals I have ever met. He had such a wonderful smile and was such a calming presence. He officiated at my sister's wedding and was a fun guest at the reception. Suddenly some polka music came on and I (who cannot dance) said out loud "Oh, a polka, the one dance I can do". Well, Elroy was on his feet, got me up, and, following his lead, we danced the best polka I have ever danced. Thank you Elroy for all your caring and compassion.
