John Clarke Sydney/ Glace Bay It is with broken hearts we the family announce the passing of John Clarke on September 21, 2021 at Celtic Court, Sydney. John was born and raised in Glace Bay, the son of the late Walter Clarke and Evelyn (Vaters) Clarke MacDonald. His younger days were spent playing hockey for the Glace Bay Jr. Miners at the forum, hanging out at the wharf and sharing many adventures with his North St. and Main St. buddies. He moved to Vancouver, BC as a young adult and fell in love with the West Coast. He worked many labour jobs in fishing, factories and railways. John was a real people person who enjoyed beachcombing and walking around his neighborhood talking to all the locals. He made friends easily and had many on both coasts. He returned to Cape Breton a few years ago and spent his remaining days at Celtic Court. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. John is survived by his brothers, Hughie, Walter, Bob and David; sisters, Eva, Arleen and Gladys. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald and Lonnie; sisters Joan and Shirley. The Clarke family are deeply grateful to all the staff of Celtic Court, Sydney and to his long time special friends, Bill White, Glace Bay, who was there for John in so many ways, to Francis Condon and family, Mission, BC who were his family away from home, you all meant so much to John.
