A loving wife, mother, baka (grandmother) and sister, Ivanka Grčić, age 74, lived her life caring for others. Her devotion to God and nurturing heart guided her life; always watching over family and friends. Whether it was through visits or her daily or weekly check ins by phone, her giving nature ensured others were always in her thoughts and prayers. She had a very strong Catholic faith that gave her the strength to live her life to the fullest. Ivanka passed away peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2021 with her family and friends close by her side. Born in Slavonski Brod, Croatia, on August 31, 1947, Ivanka was the daughter of Josip and Mara (Lajarević) Kovačević. Ivanka immigrated to Canada, her new home, in 1963, first moving to Toronto, Ontario before settling in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Ivanka was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Janko Grčić. She was devoted to her family and felt much joy spending time with her children, Sonja (Russell Stuart), Diana (Ian Johnston), Andrew (Selena) Grčić; and her eight grandchildren, Andrew and Brandon Stuart; Adam, Katrina and Erika Johnston; and Victoria, Erik and Luke Grčić. Ivanka is survived by her sisters Marica Pavković, Ogulin, Croatia, Ljubica Milosević, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Anica Nikac, Mississauga, Ontario and her many nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fall River, Nova Scotia. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fall River, Nova Scotia followed by a burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. There will be a gathering for family and friends to celebrate Ivanka’s life after the burial. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
