Lorene McDonald
Reserve Mines
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Lorene Martha Marie McDonald, age 66, of Reserve Mines who passed away peacefully, Saturday September 18th, 2021 at Glace Bay General Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Glace Bay, NS, she was the daughter of Henry “Fuff” Marsh and Sarah “Sally” (O’Handley) Marsh.
Lorene will always be remembered for her spitfire personality, for her love of celebrating good times and spending summers at her little piece of paradise on the Mira. She will be fondly remembered by all for her kind and caring personality and was well known and loved by many. She could make anyone laugh and was known for her mischievous sense of humour. But above all else, we will remember her for her fierce love and devotion for her family. She spent the majority of her career in House Keeping at Addiction Services but her greatest passion in life was raising her children and grandchildren.
Survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Roxanne Giroux (Dwayne Pope) and precious grandchildren Robin, Justin and Jason Giroux. She is also survived by her loving sisters and brother: Myrna (Francis MacIssac deceased), Jeannie (Wayne Thomas), Henry Marsh (Danielle Murrin); best friends: Bev Hulme and Sally O’Brien who were by her side throughout her illness; as well as her much loved nieces and nephews.
Lorene was predeceased by her parents; son Robbie McDonald; sisters, Rosanne Marsh, Patsy Routledge; brothers Malcolm Marsh and Dave Marsh (Delores).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Centre Patient Care Fund or a charity of your choice.
Our family would like to extent our heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Glace Bay General Hospital for their kindness, patience and devotion to the care of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
At this time of sorrow, we take great comfort knowing she has been reunited with her beloved son, Robbie.
