Obituary of Morris Wayne Duncan
Please share a memory of Morris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 66, Dartmouth, Halifax Co., formerly of Campbellton, NB, passed away peacefully and without pain at home to the sound of his favourite song, Mad by Ne-Yo, on Saturday, July 10, 2021, in the hands and unwavering love of his husband, Bill, following a short, but tenacious, battle with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).
Born October 23, 1954, in Campbellton, Wayne was the son of the late Mackenzie "Mac" and Irene (Hoffen) Duncan.
A retired architect, he spent 39 years working at FBM, both as an architect and, later, principal, in Halifax, NS following his graduation with a Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University and Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies and Bachelor of Architecture degrees from the former Nova Scotia Technical College. Wayne lives on through the many buildings he had a hand in creating, with the Halifax Central Library being his pièce de résistance. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in his beautiful and luscious creations at his former homes on Fairbanks Street and Hawthorne Street in Dartmouth. Summers were often spent touring the gardens, wine in hand, at the homes of his friends, Margie and Lyla.
Wayne is survived by his husband, William "Bill" (McDuff); fur children, Oaklee, Umbra, Cooper and Lilly; brother, Wendall, St. Stephen, NB; sister, Pamela "Pam", Tide Head, NB; nephew, Jonathan, and great-nephew, Nicholas, both of Fredericton, NB; aunt, Jean (Ed) Goudbout, Nanaimo, BC; cousins, Julie and Sherry Haley, both of Edmonton, AB; and BFF, Margaret "Margie" MacDonald.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his precious fur children, Crash, Carlyle, Furball, Dede, Haley and Colby.
