Obituary of Patrick Joseph Nolan

Patrick “Paddy’ Joseph Nolan, 83 Glace Bay We the family of the late Patrick “Paddy” Joseph Nolan of Glace Bay are saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay to the late Patrick and Agnes (O’Brien) Nolan. Paddy first entered the Coal Mines at the age of 14, working at Number’s 20 and 26 Collieries; later at the Central Shops and finally retired from a long Devco career from the Transportation Department. He loved horse racing, bowling as well as a good game of Tarbish. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Vince Ryan Hockey Tournament as well as watching the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays whenever they were playing. Paddy is survived by his only son, Patrick Daniel Nolan (Robyn), and grandson, Jordan. He is also survived by his brother Robert Daniel Nolan, (Victoria) and their children, Bobby, and Madison; three sisters, Jenny, and Thelma, both of Ontario, and Marge of New Waterford. Besides his parents, Paddy was predeceased by wife Mary(Metcalfe), brothers, John P. Nolan, and Johnny O’Brien. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations for the late Patrick “Paddy” Joseph Nolan may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Arrangements are under the care and guidance of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, 11 a.m., at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wallace Rd., Glace Bay, with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating.
