Age 90 of Glen Margaret, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Born in Indian Harbour he was a son of the late Maretha and Gordon Richardson. Cyril was predeceased by his wife, Carol; his parents, Maretha and Gordon; brothers, Max, Clarence, Gordon, Harvey, Billy and sisters, Marie and Carol. He is survived by his daughters, Peggy, Rosemary (Barry) Smith, Susan Richardson, Holly Richard- son (Jeff Maher), Amanda (Mike) Hackett; brothers, Albert, Melvin, Edgar; sisters, Lenora, Violet and Mona; grandchildren, Becky, Scott, Michael, Cindy, Cory, Kris- ten, Lily, Henry, Jamie, Danielle; great-grandchildren, Lailah, Morgan, Johnny, Jerri-Lynn, Andrew, Emily; great great-grandchildren and loving fur companion, Ruby. Dad had a quiet intelligence and caring personality that those who knew him appreciated and loved. He was a genuine, proud man with a strong work ethic that he lived by and passed on to his five daughters. He loved having the people that he cared about around him whether it was family dinners, or darts at the White- caps Seniors Club with life- long friends. Sitting around a table playing crib and laughing, often at his own jokes, brought out the amazing man that he was. He was a dedicated Lexicon player for many, many years. Dad was a mechanic by trade and owned and operated Texaco Super Auto Service in Hackett’s Cove for many years. He was well-known in the community and respected in his field. Many will remember him as a truly good man. He always kept himself busy whether fixing something, working around his home which he dearly loved, puttering in the yard or building beautiful pieces of furniture for his children. His talent for precision came out in everything he did whether it was fixing a car or dressing for an event. He was indeed meticulous. Dad was a true Toronto Maple Leafs fan often enjoying a hockey game with family. He en- joyed weekend trips with family that always included walks on the beach with Mum and Ruby. Trips to Port Joli, Newfoundland (where he always enjoyed a good feast of moose), and Mala- gash were some of his favourites as were trips to California to visit his sister Marie. He was always helping with his chainsaw when clearing the lot in Port Joli, even losing his hearing aid in mountains of cut brush and trees, only to return a week later with a metal detector to successfully find it. These were times when his precision brought a good laugh. Dad was a man of few words, had a great sense of humor, quiet strength, and a twinkle in his eye, that we will re- member with love. Dad our hearts are breaking but it gives us comfort to know you are finally free to fly and rest in peace. Your strength will not be forgotten. We love you, miss you dearly, but know you are here all around us, looking over us, as you al- ways have. A private family graveside service will be held in William Black Cemetery, Glen Margaret. A celebration of Cyril’s life will be held at a later date. At Cyril’s request, anyone wishing to make a donation, would be appreciated to William Black Memorial Church in Glen Margaret
