She was my Aunt Helen...so many memories right up to my finally seeing her after many years but not short of my memories of my Aunt. She was always the epitome of my wonderful aunt but also my mother. They learned the grace of being giving and a life well lived. I have memories of how my mother and her gave me and my cousins how to live our lives. The world will miss her.

Dr. Crooks and Cathy and all Helen's family I had the pleasure of meeting your Mother when she was a patient of Dr.McIntosh and Dr. MacNeil when I worked with them at Family Practice..She was such a beautiful Lady in so many ways and was always a pleasure to have her come in to the office..She always had a smile and talked so lovingly of all of you..She was indeed very proud of you and rightfully so...My sincerest condolences to all of you...Marg(Nurse at Family Practice)

To Helen's boys and their families, So sorry for your loss - especially during these difficult days of Covid-19. Your mom and mine (Eleanor Macdonald) were very good friends, as well as colleagues during their Ashby School teaching years. Our soon to be 16 year old grandson will be learning to drive this summer, and just yesterday I was telling my husband about the driving lessons I got from Helen many years ago when I was 16. My mom was a great driver, but she was too nervous to get in the car with me, so she recruited your mom instead. I am not sure she was thrilled to be so honoured! Your mother was a sweet, gentle person. Like my mom, she was widowed young and had so much responsibility raising children on her own. The result of her loving and caring nature is a family who loved and cared for her in return. Hopefully the warm memories of happier times together will help comfort you in the days ahead. It is with deepest condolences that we extend our thoughts and prayers to Rick,Warren,and Russ and all the families on Helens passing.We remember the wonderful times that we were able to spend with the families from Ingonish Bunglow days with very little kiddies and as they grew her presence was also welcolme and added so much to visits. My deepest condolences to the family of Mrs. Crooks. I was in her class in grade school at Ashby Elementary School, in the 70's, maybe grade 4, I think, & always thought a lot of her. I wondered where she went as I never saw her in Sydney out & about anywhere. When I think of her I smile; she was one of the best teachers esp.to impressionable kids & never let us get away with anything either. Lol. Should of been more teachers like her. May she rest in peace; she's earned her wings. Maxine

Our family is saddened to hear of Helen's passing. We have so many fond memories of her . When my Uncle Warren and Aunt Mabel would be here in Sydney visiting, Helen would be a regular visitor here in South Bar. Over the years, she always remembered who I was and always enjoyed a conversation about the good old days.She was a lovely lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
