Obituary of Scott Hemming

54, Halifax. Passed away May 25, 2021 after a courageous battle with Cancer. Born June 7, 1966, Scott was the son of the late Donald Hemming and Joyce Hemming (Dobson).
Scott was a graduate of Queen Elizabeth High School, attended Saint Mary’s University, and Concordia University. Scott started his career with the Standard Broadcasting Corporation and later went on to champion Hepatitis C. He was the founder of the Atlantic Hepatitis C Coalition, Executive Director of the Hepatitis Outreach Society; President of the Hepatitis C Society of Canada. Scott spent his life fighting for the rights of people suffering from Hepatitis C and was a member of the Nova Scotia Disabled Persons Commission. Scott was actively involved in politics for over 30 years.
Scott was an avid fisherman who spent many days on his favourite lake in Grand Lake.
He is survived by his loving daughter, the light of his life, Rebecca Hemming (Halifax) and Brother Daniel (Dana), Edmonton and nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his brother, Stephen.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Scott will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lower Sackville, alongside his parents and brother.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made on Scott’s behalf to the IWK Children’s Hospital.
