Mary Elizabeth (MacDougall) Navarole

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mom, Mary Navarole, on May 26, 2021.

She is also survived by four siblings, Jerry (Norma) Reserve Mines, Elaine (Greg) Dominion, Joseph (Laurie) Glace Bay and Priscilla, Reserve Mines, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents; Bernie and Margaret (Gillis) MacDougall; her brother, Vernon, and sister Lorna at infancy; and brother-in-law, Frankie.
Mom will be remembered for her laughter, her generosity and her dedication to her family and friends. She had a special ability to make people feel safe and loved. She raised 7 children and was able to make each one of us feel special and important to her. Mom really found her destiny as a grandmother; how she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren! Mom loved babies and babies loved being in her arms. As each generation grew up, mom still managed to have deep, meaningful relationships with each child, becoming not just their Nan or Noni but also their best friend.
Mom loved any reason to get together with friends and family. Nothing made her happier than sitting around a table, telling stories, drinking hot cups of tea, and playing Rummoli or Yahtzee. She was gentle and thoughtful, never missing a birthday or a special occasion, she was always thinking of others. To know our mom was to love her.
We will always miss her, but we know that moms at peace now and she has been welcomed with open arms by Ma, Da and her good friend Mary B.
We would like to extend our deep gratitude to the medical staff and the support staff of the Northside General Hospital LTC, New Waterford Consolidated Hospital LTC and Taigh Na Mara LTC. We appreciate all that you did for our mom during these difficult times, and we thank all the front-line workers for their service and compassion.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay. A celebration of life and burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary Navarole to the Make a Wish, Cape Breton Foundation.
