McIsaac, Leone Patricia,66
Glace Bay
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leone McIsaac on May 12, 2021 at the Glace Bay Hospital. Leone was the daughter of the late Dan Joe and Edna (Petrie) McIsaac. Raised in New Aberdeen, Glace Bay, she was proud to be a No. 2 girl.
Leone was a Critical Care Nurse in Glace Bay for over 30 years. She was among the first critical care nurses trained in Nova Scotia. Leone enjoyed her work and took the joys and sorrows in stride. She was a source of guidance and support for many of her colleagues, both personally and professionally, especially those starting their careers in healthcare. Over the years, co-workers commented on her kind ways and wit in helping them succeed. In 2002 Leone continued her education in Nursing, earning a BScN through St. Francis Xavier University’s Distance Program, she was one of the first nurses to graduate from this degree program.
Leone was known for her generosity, giving, and sharing countless times; she was always there for family and friends and did not back down from life’s challenges, Leone was well known for helping others. She was there for the fun times as well; parties, graduations, Christmas celebrations, summer events, births, and weddings, often writing thoughtful, yet humorous poems to celebrate the event.
Leone had a gift for making people laugh, for lessening the burden, no matter the circumstances. She had a quick wit, and you best keep up.
In the 90’s Leone invented her version of “Club Night” which was held on Thursdays’ with Donna and Debbie, they would do their homework, order club sandwiches, and watch ER at 11. She enjoyed travelling, particularly to Florida and other destinations. Leone completed the New York Times crossword puzzle in its entirety many times. She appreciated to keep current with issues and events, some of which were, sports, Oprah, and international news.
She is survived by her sisters, Debbie (Jim) MacLellan, Marley (Elroy) McNeil, Catherine (Charlie) Duhamel, Anne (Donald) Ellsworth, and brother, Wishie (Linda) McIsaac; and sister-in-law, Pauline McIsaac. She is also survived by 17 nieces, nephews, and their families.
