Francis (Frank) Boland
July 6,1958 - May 6,2021
It is with broken hearts that we, the family, of Francis (Frank) Boland, announce the passing of Frank, 62, in Calgary, AB.
Frank was born and raised in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He was the son of late Stephen and Veronica Boland (Woods) of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.
Frank eventually transitioned to Calgary, Alberta, where he resided for over 35 years. He worked in the rebar industry for years before eventually starting his own rebar company called the Pile Builders, in which his sons, Francis and Matthew, will continue with his legacy. Frank also had a passion for fishing and was known for his funny personality and ability to make anyone around him laugh.
Frank is survived by his one true love Patricia McIvor, their sons, Francis Boland (Candice), Matthew Boland (Amy), and daughter, April (Calgary). Grandchildren, Ethan, Jordan, Jacob, Kayden, Tristian, Nova, Atlas and soon to be Granddaughter. Brothers, Andre (Zoe Ann) Dominion, Brian (Ann) Glace Bay, Chris (Lisa) Hamilton, Elton (Shelia) Kitchener, Raymond (Bev) Glace Bay; Sister, Vera (New Jersey). Frank is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Sonya, Stephen, Mark, Falon, Daryl, Chrystal, Chantal, Jason, Tarya, Nicole, Kathy and Holly.
Besides his parents, Frank was also predeceased by a brother Gerard in infancy, , and brothers’, Stephen and Darrell; as well as, brother-in-law Billy.
Frank was one of a kind, his stern look through sunglasses always made you consider if you were working hard enough or not, kind of made you a little nervous from afar, until you spoke with him.He would say "no worries boys don’t mind me" just thinking about fishing. There is not too many times you could look at Frank without laughter, considering he would always have something smart to say, and you could tell by his face before you even got to his truck, that there would be laughs involved. Some called Frank “Rapella man, himself”, unless you went fishing with him, he would just call you bad luck, or he would call you the skunk, which means, you suck at fishing. In his spare time, he would like to pick up Patricia and take her to Value Village, to pick up “something nice.” He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and daughters in law.
Cremation has taken place at Choice Memorial Funeral Home in Calgary, AB. The service will be held on Saturday, May 22nd at 2 p.m. There will also be a private live YouTube channel during the service for anyone wanting to attend online who unfortunately, cannot be there in person due to the restrictions of COVID-19.
Gone but not forgotten and forever in our hearts.
You never said your leaving,
You never said goodbye,
You were gone before we knew it,
And only god knew why.
A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried,
If love could have saved you,
You would have never died.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day god took you home.
