Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Charles (Basil) Jordan of Lwr. Sackville. He passed away peacefully at home on April 30th, 2021 at the age of 85. Basil was born in the Sherbrooke jail, where his parents Arch and Eva Jordan were jail keepers at the time. He was the youngest of 10 siblings. Predeceased by Wilfred, Warren, Bernice, Francis, Percy, Victor, Dorothy (MacLeod) and Jennie (McGowan). He is survived by his brother, Murray. Basil was predeceased by his first wife, Doris (Gray) Jordan, mother to his six children and his second wife, Shirley. Basil is survived by his six children: Danny (Coreen), Karen (Blaine), Darlene, Shelley (Bruce), Basil (Rhonda), and Nancy (Bruce). Grandchildren: Angela, Bradley, Shane, Chad, Caitlin, Tristan, Jordan, Lyndsay, Amber, Jamie, Kevin, Madison, and ten beautiful great-grandchildren. Before moving to Sackville, Basil had lived in Dartmouth for many years. He was a sheet metal worker before working at the Volvo plant in Halifax. Basil was quite the entertainer; he loved to sing and play guitar, even recording his own record. On a Saturday night you could catch him watching the Toronto Maple Leafs. You could also find him rebuilding cars in our driveway on Kaye Street in his spare time. Basil loved to visit Sherbrooke and had just recently had his last trip with his daughter-in-law, Coreen, only a few weeks prior to his passing. Thank you to David Murphy for being a wonderful friend to Dad for all those years, he cherished your friendship. The family would also like to thank the VON’s and Homecare for taking great care of Dad during the last few months. We will be forever grateful for the love and care that our brother, Danny, gave to Dad over the last 16 years that he lived with him. Burial will be held at a later date in Indian Harbour Lake, Sherbrooke. Rest easy Dad, we love you.
