Douglas Gordon Landry age 74 of Lower Sackville passed away at the QEII on Friday April 23, 2021. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Effie Landry. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Sandra (Shaw) daughters Patricia (Fred), Lynn (Ed), son Doug Jr., and brother Jerry (Thelma) He was predeceased by brother John, sister Jeanett, sister Lorraine, and sister Anne. Also many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Doug had a zest for life and would light up a room when he walked in. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball on the Halifax Commons with all of his friends. In the later 70's he joined Waverly Ground Search and Rescue. He enjoyed dancing to his old time Rock & Roll and attending local dances. Most weekends in the summers were spent either attending yard sales or going to Car Shows. He enjoyed fixing up his Antique cars and sometimes trading for another fixer upper. He was always around to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. Anyone that knew him would always say that he was the nicest guy you would meet. If you ever needed something Doug was usually the one to ask, because he seemed to know someone that had something. He loved his family and friends and always had an ear to listen and help out when needed. Doug was very much respected and liked by so many. He will be dearly missed. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer's Association.
