Obituary of Doris Annie Devison

Doris Annie Devison, 85 Sydney It is with heavy hearts that the family of Doris Annie (Locke)Devison, wife to the late John D’arcy Devison, announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, she was one of 17 children of the late Stanley and Jessie Locke. Mom was wholeheartedly devoted to her religion at the Salvation Army, where she could be seen playing her Tambourine and Singing Hymns and was a dedicated member of the lady’s group with the church. She worked for many years at General Instruments and Modern Cleaners. We always enjoyed Mom’s stories of how she wooed Dad (the love of her life) by whistling across the tracks from the hub, all the way to # 2, just to get his attention. Great memories to be had, from our Summers in St. Peters and trips to Newfoundland. “Mom is happy to be reunited with Dad now.” Doris will be greatly missed by her children: Fred (Liz), Brian (Judy), Paulette (Kevin) Murphy, Kevin (Vonda), Fonda (James)Dillon, Alex (Judy) and Stephen; Brothers’: Thomas and Leonard Locke; Sisters’: Debra Kopinto, Lucy Digout, Martha Bartlette, Beulah King and Gloria Kucherwry. Doris is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Doris was proceeded by her brothers’: Arthur,Samuel, Leslie, John, Jack, David, and Sonny Locke; Sisters’: Margaret Moore, and Lovelette Carter. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902) 849-4199. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday,August 18, 2021 at Salvation Army Chapel, Glace Bay, beginning at 11 a.m..Interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery, Wallace Rd., Glace Bay.
