Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce Virginia (MacDonald) Beazley It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. Joyce Virginia Beazley, 90, passed away April 7, 2021. She was born in Bridgewater, NS, May 22, 1930. In her earlier years, Mom resided in Stonehurst and proudly attended Lunenburg Academy. Residing in White’s Lake, Halifax Co., Mom lived a remarkable, full life. Her greatest credit was motherhood itself, as she and Dad raised 11 children. All those who knew Mom would agree that she had the “biggest heart,” the kindest soul and the friendliest personality. We have wholeheartedly nominated her for “The World’s Best Mom” award! She was constantly nurturing, feeding or encouraging her entire family. Mom loved everyone and everything in life. She loved to reach out to help anyone in need and always tried to make people smile. Mom’s family kept growing. Her face would light up while interacting with her babies. Nothing brought her more joy! She affectionately became known as “Nanny the Great”. In her later years, she lived through her loving family and dedicated herself to maintaining family traditions such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, MacDonald Christmas Reunion and our Boxing Day Event. Mom loved to be out in nature. In her younger years she loved to skate and swim. As time passed, she took great joy in watching the butterflies and birds in her backyard. Mom also enjoyed bowling, darts, and attending baseball games. Throughout her years she was an avid knitter, contributing newborn outfits to the IWK. Being a passionate reader, we were constantly challenged to keep her supplied with good reading material. She also enjoyed her daily newspaper and crossword puzzles. Music was such a love for Mom; her favourite entertainer being Willie Nelson. She enjoyed nothing better than a waltz on the dance floor and in her later years we frequently heard her say, “Wouldn’t I love to have just one more dance!” Her happiest hours involved live music with family and friends either at the cottage or at home. Many fond memories were made over evenings of 45s, Skip-Bo or Rummoli. Mom worked at Simpson Sears, the local MT&T Switchboard and the corner store. In her later years she worked for the Federal Government, retiring after 10 years of service. Mom is survived by her sons; Brian, Vincent (Leah), Richard (Lou-Ann), Tim (Betty), Terry (Carole) and her daughters; Janet Gilbey (Peter), Pamela Ells (Doug), Mary Lou Beazley, Angela Bennett, Kathi DeLeon (Martin), and Denise Harrie (David). Also, 16 grandchildren; Alanna, Adam, Erin, Lynn, Kelly, Jonathan, Jennifer, Matthew, Andrew, Lauren, Leslie, Brittney, Ammie, Kenny, Craig, Tim, 28 great grandchildren; brothers, Gordon (Fran) MacDonald, Wayne (Carol) MacDonald, sisters Shirley Whalen, Betty Timmons; sister-in-law Betty MacDonald; God children, Frank Beazley, Patti Holt and Kathy Jay; many nieces and nephews. Mom was pre-deceased by her parents, William & Winnifred MacDonald; her loving husband of 63 years, Murray Beazley; brothers, William (Junior) & Everett, her daughter-in-law Linda and son-in-law Ernie, in-laws Clifford (Buck), Russell, and Leora. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Dr. Jeff Colp, Mom’s family doctor, to the QEII Heart Clinic, VON and Hospice Halifax staff, who provided her with wonderful care. Arrangements and Cremation have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax. In keeping with Joyce’s wishes there will be no visitation, a funeral service will be held at a later date. An internment will happen at Sunrise Park Inter-Faith Cemetery, Hatchet Lake, N.S In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice Halifax or Hope for Wildlife. https://hospicehalifax.ca , https://www.hopeforwildlife.net/donations
