Susan, Rick and Family...
Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of Gerry. She was a great friend of Ruby Bethune, Nancy's mother, and we knew her through her visits on Elmsdale Crescent and at the family cottage in Pictou County. We were sorry to learn of her passing. Susan Rick and Family, I’m so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. From the first time we met at the house in Fairview I knew we would be friends and so we were. She said “ you just get me” and so I did. Gerry loved to tell stories about her travels in her younger years. I knew all her friends and family within the first two months. She was quite a gal. A very lucky lady able to stay in her home for many years and still travel to Queensland where she would precede to tell Susan and I how to properly clean the cottage. Gerry lived a long and happy life with a loving family. I throughly enjoyed our time together with my friend Gerry.

Susan and Rod,
I was so sorry to hear about your mom. The last of "the bridge club ladies". She and my mother were such great friends and I know Gerry made my mother laugh time and again. Gerry was such fun to be around and always had time for her friends. Her letters were legendary and always filled with interesting tidbits.
My brothers and sisters and I all send our sincere condolences.

To Susan, Rick and the Brenton family,
Although saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing, I can’t help but think there are a whole lot of heavenly people (my Mom included) who have been waiting a long time for your Mom to join their bridge table! I have so many memories of your Mom from our early cottage days at Queensland...her infectious laughter, stylish swimsuits, great legs, card games, nightly walks to the canteen, trips to the bakery, hikes to the point, bonfires on the beach and so many more. May the stories you share of your Mom with family and friends, of a life well-lived, sustain you in difficult days ahead.

I was saddened to read Gerry’s obituary. Even though our paths have not crossed for years I always admired and was gladdened by her sense of humour and “plunk”. I was wondering how I came to know her and I realized it was through the Trellis cafe (or earlier incarnation) n Hubbards where she was an very enjoyable customer. My sympathies for your loss. My kudos to Gerry who had a life well lived!

Susan, Rick and entire family,
Kevin and I send warm hugs and prayers at this time of sadness. “A life well-lived never dies-Cicero”. Your mom's passion for living every moment to the fullest inspired us. I have many fond childhood memories growing up together with you in Fairview and throughout our shared teaching careers. Your mom always took a keen interest in our lives and kindly asked lovingly about how our families were doing! Your mom was so proud of your accomplishments and successes, Sue. May all the happy memories sustain you and bring sunshine to your days. Love, Kevin and Dorothy(Martin) Hammond.

Susan, Rod and families: I was truly saddened to read your mother's obituary online. Some of my fondest memories are of your mother and her sense of fun at the cottage in Queensland for the years we lived across the road in our cottage. Those summers wove themselves into the rich tapestry of my childhood. Please know your mother lives on in many of us who knew her. Peace to you during this sad time.
