Cayla Gouthro Toomey, 52 Glace Bay It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Cayla Gouthro Toomey, on Wednesday March 17, 2021, on the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, on August 14, 1968, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine ‘Kay’ (Doyle) Gouthro. Cayla was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and true friend to many. Cayla loved her family dearly; she was a kind, loving, caring lady with a beautiful infectious smile. Cayla would always brighten the lives of others. She truly loved her daily drives with Tim; Halifax shopping trips and having family and friends gatherings and of course, having her favorite drink - White Russians. There was nothing Cayla liked better than interesting conversations with good friends; she could have an engaging conversation with anyone. Cayla was employed and enjoyed her work at Staples and City Printers Plus. Cayla is survived by her husband, the love of her life and soul mate Tim Toomey; her pride and joy and best friend - daughter Haley (Logan); son Ryan; daughter-in-law Tiffany and granddaughter Rhiannon and soon to be born granddaughter Oaklynd. Cayla is also survived by her sisters Charlene, Debbie (Darrell), Heather (Ronnie) and Lisa; brothers Martin (Shelia) and Troy (Debbie); several brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Cayla was predeceased by her special brother-in-law Mick. Cayla will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Tim, Haley and Ryan would like to sincerely thank John and Patricia Wilcox for being there every step of the way; your caring and kindness made this most difficult time more bearable; a very special thank you to Blair Slade for your support and love through this very difficult journey.
