Dear Val, We are so very sorry to hear about Cal. We first met each other in Winnipeg when I played against him in the Senior Triples. Beat us on. The last end. Told him I would never speak to him again and he gave me a wry smile, laughed and thanked us for a very enjoyable game. A lovely man who will be missed by many. I have vivid memories of sailing with Cal on the HMCS Ottawa in the 1980's and later at CFFS, CFB Stadacona. We both enlisted as Radar Plotters and then later, re-mustered to the new Tech Trade. I recall Cal as an excellent Administrator, respected, inspiring and a Chief Petty Officer who defended those who worked under him - a true leader! Sad to hear of his passing. G. Johnston, PO1 ret'd
