Obituary of Joyce MacDonald

Joyce Jennifer MacDonald Glace Bay It is with deep sorrow that we the family announce the passing of Joyce MacDonald, age 62 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on March 10, 2021 due to complications of COPD. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Joan and David Edwards. Joyce will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her love of horses and nature, music, dancing and gardening. She had a great sense of humor, a friendly kind word for everyone. Joyce will be missed beyond words. She was handy, be it, making a new room in the basement, building a fence, a hen coop or a tree house. Joyce is survived by her long time partner and soul mate Lorna MacDougall; her loving son, Scott Simms (Melissa) and their dear daughter Maddyn; her twin sister and best friend, Joan (George) Murphy, Big Pond; brother Dave Edwards; birth mother, Joan Edwards, Glace Bay, her favorite aunt, Joyce MacNeil, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joyce was predeceased by her father David Edwards; her adoptive parents, Mike and Annie Mae MacDonald, her step sisters, Mary Murphy, Patricia and Bootsie. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J.Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay (902-849-4199). As per Joyce's wishes there will be no visitation or service. We know your deep spirit is at peace and we look forward to the day our spirits will reunite again. Much peace and love.
