It is with great sorrow, that we the family of Joan Marie (Charumski)Murphy of Glace Bay announce her passing on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family.
Joan is the daughter of Helen and the late John Charumski.
Mom graduated from St. Michael’s High School and then went on to complete courses at Cape Breton University to care for people with Special Needs. Through her lifetime she has volunteered her time teaching religion classes at St. John’s Parish, marking score for Youth Bowling at Heather Lanes, and at the Horizon Achievement Centre. Joan’s hobbies included, playing cards, going for drives, and spending time with family.
Joan is survived by her husband of 46 years, Wesley Murphy; two daughters; Shawna (Jesse) Berube and Jennifer (Chris) Burns, Brothers; Joseph Charumski, Jimmy Charumski and Wally Charumski, Sisters; Patsy Charumski, Mary (Weggie) Parsons, and Paula (Steve) Butler, as well as her three precious grandchildren; Avery and Breah Burns; and Briar Berube.
Joan was predeceased by her father, John Charumski.
The family would like to say thank you to friends and family, for the kindness shown to us during this most difficult time. We would also like to thank the Nurses from VON and Palliative Care, as well as the staff at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay, for everything that you have done for our family. Thank you.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow, all taking place on Thursday, February 11, 2021 with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating, at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902) 849-4199.
