Obituary of Barbara Dorothy Zwicker

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with extreme sadness and a profound sense of lost that the family of Barbara Zwicker (nee Cassie) lost her short but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday January 9, 2021 at the age of 57. Barb will be remembered with love by her husband of 37 years Jim, their daughters Rachel and Cassie and grandchildren James and Kaileigh. As well as her mother Phyllis and siblings Richard (Joanna), Susan (Fred), Ronnie and Donna. She was pre-deceased by her father James David (Jim) and brothers Gordon, Brian, and Robert. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. As well as chosen family/friends too numerous to count. Barb was born in Calgary AB, lived in Montreal, QC, Barrie, ON but spent the majority of her life in Timberlea, NS. She attended Sir John A MacDonald High School and went on to a career in finance. Coming from a military family, she was very involved in cadets where she met her future husband Jim. Barb had a love of camping, music, a good food and drink, and was often the life of the party around a bonfire. One of her greatest joys was being Nanny to James and Kaileigh who she will “love until all the pieces fit.” She was never one to suffer fools and would hug you or give you kick depending on what you needed, both done with love. Barb will always be remembered as a strong woman, who faced many challenges in life head on with amazing courage and strength. Her ability to love, laugh and be there for those who needed was felt by more people than we may ever know. A leader and every day motivator at work and at home. A beautiful soul like Barb will never be forgotten as she gave us so much to be remembered. She lived as she passed, “without regret”. She loves you all forever and always, until all the pieces fit. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A small invitation only service will be held on January 23, 2020 at 2 p.m. at TJ Tracey Crematorium and Burial, we ask you to remember her was by wearing her favorite colour, plaid, on this day. From this day forward….when you want to talk to Barb, write her a letter and toss it in a campfire. The words will be carried up to her. Donations in her memory Autism Nova Scotia, Ovarian Cancer Canada, MS Society or Peter’s Place.
