Marjorie Genevieve Smith, age 82, of Halifax, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at her home with her loving husband at her side. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of John Michael Saccary and Kathleen Florence (Parks)Marge lived an active life. She worked at the VG hospital and the County Home. She had a great sense of humor and was a strong-willed woman; a two time cancer survivor. She enjoyed crafting, fishing, travelling, and camping with her husband and grandchildren. She was expressive of her love for her family; always saying “I love you,” and embracing her immediate and extended family during phone conversations or visits. Her family was the center of her life. Marge is survived by her husband of 43 years, Fred Smith, her children Eric Thomson (Bev), Adrian (Norma), Linda Mosher (Kenny), Kathy Simpson(Harlon), brother Donald Saccary (Theresa); 12 grandchildren Kevin, Patty, Doug, Daryll, Sarah, Carley, Jake, Ashley, Andrea, Arielle, Alisha, Jorden, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Marge was predeceased by her sons, baby John and John Thomson, grandson Shawn Simpson, daughter Marguerite Thomson (Penny), sister June Byng, and brothers John Clifford and Clarence Angus (Corky). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VON (Victorian Order of Nurses), Palliative Care Team, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice. The family would like to send a special thank you to the VON and the Closing the Gap homecare workers, and family and friends who gave special care to Marge, and support to Fred, at their home in Halifax. Although the past few months have been challenging, Marge was brave and never lost her trademark sense of humour, which kept those around her comforted and smiling.
