RUSSELL MACDONALD, 78 GLACE BAY It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Russell William “Bucket” MacDonald, on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, on April 28, 1943, Russell was the son of the late Muriel (Robinson) and Henry MacDonald. Russell was a devoted and loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Russell loved his family dearly; his voice was as loud as the size of his heart, he always put others before himself. He had a tremendous sense of humor, amazing wit and everyone certainly knew where they stood with him. Russell took great pride working alongside his Dad and brother Clayton in the construction business and also worked in the Coal Mines for 8 years. Russell’s true passion was fishing; he was a Long Liner and Dragger man and once owned his own boat; “he certainly had salt water in his veins” Russell was an avid dart player, loved his game of crib and enjoyed his evening drives along the ocean with Joyce. Russell is survived by this best Friend, Soul mate and the love of his life Joyce Doucette. Russell is also survived by his sisters Ramona and Bernadette, brother Clayton (Jean), daughters Serena (Jeff) Matheson and Janice (David), step-daughter Kim (David) and special brother-in-law Gordie (whom Russell regarded as a brother) several nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents; Russell was predeceased by brothers Eddie, Charles, Arnold and Peter. Russell will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to “Three Angels on Earth,” Kim, Norma Jean and Michelle, for being there every step of the way. Special thanks to his VON team and Hospice Cape Breton for being so compassionate and caring for his well being. As per Russell’s wishes, there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. (902) 849-4199.
