Joseph'Buddy' Edward Browner
Glace Bay/Dominion
On Friday, October 30, 2020 at 9:45pm, my father, Joe Browner, age 79 known too many as “Buddy” passed away peacefully at the Glace Bay General Hospital. A native of Dominion, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was the son of the late Lena (Forbes) and Alex Browner.
Joe was a proud miner who spent 34 years working in various coal mines. He loved shooting pool and going for his morning coffee at Tim’s with his friends. You could find him walking frequently to town; often making stops at Scotiabank and other local shops to greet staff and drop off candy. He enjoyed the time he spent with his neighbor and friend, Gerry ‘Red’ Bennet.
He is survived by his daughter Karen (Brent) MacPherson; grandson Ryan (Ellen) Bach; loving companion of 20 years, Marilyn Bartlett; her two daughters Terry (John) and their children Chelsea, Christopher and Tracy (Steven) and their daughter Miyah.
He is also survived by five stepchildren and grandchildren; son-in-law, Neil Bach; brother-in-laws Myers MacNeil (nephews; Evan and Chad), Henry Hiscock (nephews; Henry, Shawn, Kevin and Ryan), Butch (Sandra) Simm, Fraser (Linda) Simm, sister-in-law; Delores Garland, and Godmother and Aunt Camilla Peck.
He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Simm) Browner; sisters, Camilla MacNeil and Margaret Hiscock and brother-in-laws Billy Simm and Jimmy Garland.
A very special thank you to Dr. Kelly, Dr. Claire McNeil, Dr. Carol Boutilier, Dr. Gordon Spencer and all the lovely nurses on 3W, at Glace Bay General; as well as the amazing Palliative Care Team.
Visitation will be Friday, November 6, from 5-7 p.m.. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 7 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, seating is limited; Masks and Social Distancing are mandatory. Thank you.
'Joe, we will miss seeing that wink.'
When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand.
That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the
hand. The angel said my place was ready, in Heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But
when I walked through Heaven's Gates, I felt so much at home,
for God looked down, smiled at me, and told me “Welcome Home”.
So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart”.
